A Personalized Start for Every Student

At Sawyer STREAM Academy, every student’s education begins with understanding who they are — how they think, learn, and grow.

Each applicant completes our free diagnostic knowledge exams, available online or on campus. If parents choose the online option, they agree to supervise their child to ensure honesty and accuracy. All online exams are delivered through our secure safe-browsing platform, which prevents students from accessing other websites or tools while testing.

Combined with a review of academic records and a personal interview, this process ensures proper placement and allows us to create a learning path that builds on each student’s true strengths and needs.

Curriculum Development & Educational Philosophy

All Sawyer STREAM Academy curriculum has been — and continues to be — developed by Sawyer Scholastics, in partnership with parents, teachers, and educational experts both locally and internationally. This cooperative model ensures we have meaningful control over what students learn and how they apply it in real life.

We uphold the belief that parents should have the primary voice in their child’s education. Therefore, subjects that involve moral or personal topics — such as sex education — are left entirely to families’ discretion. When requested, we provide guidance and resources to parents who wish to address these subjects at home.

While our curriculum follows internationally recognized standards, including the Common Core State Standards, we do not adopt the social or ideological interpretations found in many mainstream public-school materials. Instead, we weave real family values, character development, and practical wisdom into every subject.

We also take a traditional approach to mathematics — avoiding “new math” trends and instead emphasizing time-tested methods for reasoning, problem-solving, and mastery. The Common Core framework is used as it was originally intended: to guide clear, progressive development from one grade to the next, not to dictate how or what to think.

Kindergarten to Grade 8: Building Strong Foundations

From Kindergarten through Grade 8, students gain a strong academic foundation anchored in the principles of STREAM — Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

Instruction is built on internationally recognized standards such as the Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, and National Council for the Social Studies Standards. Each grade includes measurable learning goals that encourage exploration, creation, and discovery.

Our Family Values and Culture of Care nurture habits of respect, diligence, responsibility, and integrity. Teachers mentor each child personally, focusing on both intellectual growth and moral character.

Every grade’s objectives scaffold seamlessly into the next, ensuring students complete each year confident, capable, and ready for the next stage of learning.
