Program Overview
Q1. What grades does Sawyer Academy Online serve?
A. We offer a complete K–12 homeschooling program. High school students (Grades 9–12) also have access to electives designed to prepare them for college and career opportunities.
Q2. Is this program accredited?
A. Sawyer STREAM Academy is registered with the Florida Department of Education (School Code 4644). Our curriculum is built on U.S. national standards — ensuring that all homeschool students can earn a Sawyer STREAM Academy High School Diploma recognized by colleges and employers. In addition, we are in the process of applying for other forms of accreditation to satisfy market demands. We will update this section as new accreditations are completed.
Q3. How is Sawyer Academy Online different from other homeschooling options?
A. We combine flexibility with accountability, family values with global standards, and hands-on learning with a Culture of Care. Students complete rigorous, standards-aligned courses while learning compassion, problem-solving, and creativity.
Curriculum & Learning Platform
Q4. What kind of materials are used in each course?
A. Each course includes videos, audio lessons, text readings, images, and teacher-approved white-listed links to outside resources. Students also complete quizzes, projects, and exams through our secure online platform.
Q5. Can parents see what their children are studying?
A. Yes! Parents have full access to all lessons, assessments, and reports. You’ll always know what your child is learning and how they’re progressing.
Q6. What if we find a topic that doesn’t fit our family’s beliefs or values?
A. Parents may substitute or skip specific content as long as the student completes the related standards-aligned learning objectives. This ensures academic integrity while respecting family choice.
Schedules & Enrollment
Q7. When can we enroll?
A. Enrollment is open year-round. You can begin anytime, and your child will receive a recommended 10-month schedule for completing each grade level.
Q8. How flexible is the schedule?
A. Families set their own pace within the 10-month timeframe. Highly motivated students can finish sooner, but courses must be completed within 10 months to maintain momentum and certification.
Q9. How much daily time should students expect to study?
A. Most students spend 4–6 hours per day on coursework, including projects and reading. Younger grades may require less time, while advanced levels may take longer depending on subject load.
Support & Reporting
Q10. Is this program entirely self-study?
A. The program is parent-led and self-paced, but support is always available. Families can request online tutors for a low hourly fee and receive guidance from our Homeschooling Coordinators.
Q11. What kind of feedback will we receive?
A. Coordinators review student submissions, provide feedback, and issue quarterly progress reports (or monthly, upon request) outlining grades, attendance, and participation.
Q12. Do parents receive training?
A. Yes! Every family gets free access to a self-paced parent training course on the same online platform. You’ll learn how to navigate the system, track progress, and support your child’s learning. Optional online consultations with coordinators are also available.
High School & College Preparation
Q13. Are there AP or advanced courses?
A. Yes. We offer AP-modeled courses that mirror the structure and rigor of Advanced Placement classes. Qualified students may register to take official AP exams through approved local testing centers.
Q14. What electives are available for high school students?
A. Elective options include Business and Entrepreneurship, Computer Science and Robotics, Art and Design, Environmental Science, Health, and Media Studies — all designed to support college and career goals.
Q15. Will homeschool students receive a diploma?
A. Yes. Students who successfully complete all required coursework and credits receive a Sawyer STREAM Academy High School Diploma recognized by colleges and employers worldwide.
Privacy & Safety
Q16. How is student information protected?
A. We never share or sell personal data. Information is used only for educational and administrative purposes and may only be released at a parent’s written request or by court order. All records are stored securely on encrypted servers.
Q17. Is the platform safe for children?
A. Yes. All links and learning resources are white-listed and reviewed by our academic team to ensure a safe, ad-free, and age-appropriate learning experience.
Values & Community
Q18. What do you mean by “Family Values and Culture of Care”?
A. Our Culture of Care means we see every student as a whole person — not just a gradebook entry. We emphasize respect, empathy, service, and personal growth alongside academic excellence. Families are encouraged to model and teach these values at home, making learning a shared experience.
Q19. Can homeschooling students join school activities?
A. Absolutely. Homeschoolers can participate in virtual clubs, online showcases, service projects, and events alongside our campus and international students.
Q20. How do I get started?
