Parents and guardians have full visibility into lessons, materials, assessments, and student progress. Families who prefer a more hands-on role in their child’s education are able to actively guide daily learning while still benefiting from the structure, oversight, curriculum, and academic support of an established private virtual school.

How It Works
Students access coursework through our interactive online learning platform, where every lesson is designed to engage curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and support independent learning.

Flexible, Structured, and Supportive
Sawyer STREAM Academy Online provides students with flexibility while maintaining clear academic expectations and structured timelines.
Each academic year consists of two semesters totaling 180 instructional days. Students work through coursework at an individualized pace within guided academic timelines designed to help them remain on track for successful course completion.
Students may enroll throughout the year and begin coursework once onboarding is complete.
The program is designed around guided independent learning supported by teachers, mentors, coordinators, and family involvement. Students are never expected to navigate the learning process alone.
Support and Guidance
Even though learning takes place virtually, students and families receive ongoing individualized support.
Academic Support Services include:
- Optional online tutoring for additional academic support
- Guidance for AP-aligned coursework and project-based learning
- Progress monitoring and intervention support
- Monthly or quarterly progress evaluations depending on enrollment type
- Personalized communication with families regarding pacing and academic performance
When students fall below expected progress benchmarks, intervention systems are activated to provide additional guidance, support, and improvement planning.

Academic Opportunities For High School Students
Students in Grades 9–12 complete rigorous college-preparatory coursework alongside project-based applications and career pathway exploration.
Available areas of study include:

All students complete AP-aligned coursework designed to reflect the rigor and depth of Advanced Placement classes. Students may optionally sit for official AP examinations through approved testing centers in their region.
Students who complete AP-aligned coursework without taking AP exams receive Honors-level credit weighting. Students who complete official AP examinations receive AP-weighted credit.
High school students also participate in internships, portfolio development, leadership projects, and college/career readiness planning.
